The Doe

by Cheryl Bullock-Hannah

I look at her face, so pretty you know,
With big doe eyes, that never change as she grows.
The day she was born, they were open and stared,
at me and the world, so strong and not scared.
? Yet now as she grows, into a beautiful teen,
The kids at her school have gotten a little mean.
They say that her eyes are ?too big and too round?.
She says ?mom it hurts?... her face in a frown.
I laugh to myself, ?cause doesn?t she know.
They all see the beauty of ?my? big eyed doe.
